Giving Away Free Painting For My 50th!

Posted in art, freebie by nakedpastor on the October 5th, 2007

Hey everyone! My 50th birthday is this Sunday. We are celebrating here at my house Saturday night, starting at 7:30pm. Everyone is invited. I thought I would give something away for my birthday. So all you have to do is make a comment on this post of any kind. Even “nice picture” or “happy birthday”! Anything! And your name will be entered into a draw to win this ORIGINAL HAND-PAINTED WOODCUT, created by me! It is 5″x7″ and depicts a maple tree in my back yard, backlit with the Northern Lights. Your name will only be entered into the draw once, no matter how many times you comment. OH! A couple of you have asked what you could give to me: how ’bout putting some $$ into my Paypal account? That would be cool. Just click on the “Buy Me A Beer” at the bottom of this post. The contest will close at the end of my birthday: Sunday midnight Atlantic Time. Good luck!

Happy Birthday, When I was 26 I was madly in love with a man that was 52.
He said “Oh I’m old enough to be your father!” Where upon I said “Ohhh
    but you’re not my father….”

Fifty is a great age to be.

You are an old ass man — half a century of existence here on this rotating sphere we call earth.

But thanks for all you do to challenge and inspire your physical and online flocks. I for one appreciate how you share your words, your art, and the art of your friends.

    Happy Birthday!

I turn 50 this Friday, a week today. Maybe we got switched in the hospital?! That would mean your parents are really my parents and my parents are really your parents. That would also mean your stuff is really my stuff…which would make your painting my painting. Just a thought.

Hey! Happy Birthday. Age is a temporal concept…ignore it.

I heard about your party so much, I decided to go. I changed my flight this afternoon, and will be flying back to Ottawa leaving on Sunday at 5pm. Sooooo…you’re stuck with me at the party, and Vineyard is stuck with me for another sunday service. *grin*

I also get to spend a bit more time with Pete, Deb, and Taylor, Josie, Noah, and Jack and Moses. Yay!

See you soon Nancy aka Deb’s cousin aka kaVri (my usual online nickname, and the one you’ll see my posting here as, now that Deb has shown me your wonderful site)

PS - I ADORE the name of your blog.

PPS - I’m a minister’s kid (please don’t hold that against me, I also grew up watching Monty Python’s Flying Circus) so knowing the number of pastors that I do, it makes the tiitle both funny, and given how little we all truly bare are souls and are vunerable, also very poignant.

PPPS - To those who have met me, yes, you can see that I write as much as I talk. I’ll try to not monopolize the party or the blog when posting, but always feel free to tell me to hush up. *grin*

PPPPS - I suppose length doesn’t count, does it? (still hoping I might get the picture).

Happy Birthday! I’m two years down the road from fifty and I’m really liking the view. I’ve rediscovered my rock and roll soul and loving it. Thank you for all your writings. AS a previous post said “50 is the new 30″

Reminds me of growing up in NORTHERN Minnesota USA. I think that Minnesota and New Brunswick are very similar in their latitude. I had a job watering a golf course at night in the summer. I saw the northern lights often. It brought that memory back to me.

Happy Birthday! Mine was last week and I had told someone I how old I was. Then the next day my cousin emailed me and said congratulations you’re… It was a year less than I thought! I was so excited to learn I was a year younger than I thought I was! :) Maybe that will happen to you as well! Enjoy!

Hope you’ve had/are having a fabulous birthday. I can almost remember turning 50…and it was only two years ago. Wish we could have been in your beautiful part of the world to celebrate with you. I’ll have a single malt in your honour tonight.

It’s nice to hear from you. It’s a great way for me to remember to check out what’s new in your art. Happy 50th. I was on the East Coast last month and met a family who traveled up to New Foundland for a road trip. They brought back stories of incredible landscapes, ice bergs in the water, snow in September, and super friendly people all along the way. Someday, I’ll make the trek!

    hé David,

Happy birthday for you, from The Netherlands…!!

I try to read your log every day, because I feel so commited… I would like you to come overhere and say and do some good things in our churches here - I really am taken by your Free People Freely Assemble post and a lot more. Feel I could talk hours with you about churches, organised religion and the longing to be free, to give your live to Jesus, and Jesus alone. Read John 8, 55 - 58 (better read the whole converation).

Many blessings for you, David, keep doing your upmost!!

Hi David … maybe next year you can offer the “Hide Me” sculpture!

  151. […] Well, it’s time to announce the winner of this contest I held to celebrate my birthday. The woodcut, handmade and hand-painted by me, goes to Kamsin Alexander over at Fearfully Made. If I remember right, she teaches English as a Second Language and lives in the UK. I’ve contacted her by email to inform her of her win! Congratulations Kamsin! And thanks everyone for your generous comments. I don’t think having the same prize on two sites worked very well, so I won’t do that again. We learn as we go. art, birthday, contest, freebie, haywardart, painting, prize […]
