In all our fear of icons and images at the front of the church distracting folks from worshipping Jesus these same churches have more instance of cult of personality than any Roman or Eastern church I can think of. I think we missed the balance and ended up with the same problem just from a different angle. Cutting cartoon, I like it!

The irony–we are eikons of God–image bearers–but we’re not supposed to worship the image. No wonder one of the first commandments God gave us was to make no images….
