I’m not an optimist. I don’t believe I’m in total control of what happens to me.
I’m not a pessimist. I don’t believe I’m a totally powerless victim.
I’m somewhere in between. Things happen and I have some control.

I’m empowered to make change. Inside and out.

A realist?

I like the sound of optipessimist better!

Loved this. I also appreciated Thomas Friedman’s comment that his mother told him that pessimists had a more realistic view of reality but optimists were more likely to be able to change it. You’ve said it well here–winners and losers at the same time.

That makes think of the serenity prayer…”God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.”
