So often, it seems that such is the presentation of the Good News – if you will conform outwardly to this shape, this liturgy, this behavior… then… you will have eternal life.
I enjoy it better when church institutions talk about the open arms of Jesus, and the narrow doors of their church group.
By fictitious example: I am OK when Vineyard says ‘Hey, we are not for everyone’, or Calvary Chapel (of Costa Mesa parentage) saying, ‘Perhaps you would be better off in a more liturgical church.
Unfortunately, I have not encountered a pastor that openly admits his/her church is simply not for everyone.
