The United Methodist Church in the USA is silencing the voices of LGBTQ people at their General Conference this year.

I saw these images and was inspired to draw today’s cartoon.

re: “The United Methodist Church in the USA is silencing the voices of LGBTQ people at their General Conference this year” There is no “UMC in the USA “- there is only the UMC – a global, international, denomination. The General Conference happens to be meeting in the USA.

the other denominations in the USA that have already recently voted to become fully welcoming, and affirming of LGBTQI persons, unlike the UMC, are national churches. The UMC is an international church and an increasing number of the delegates to our General Conference come from Africa, Asia, and South America. For each of the past 3 General Conferences if only the delegates from the USA were counted, the UMC would have already removed the discriminatory language from our Book of Discipline. Please pray for us as we seek blessings to at least allow the UMC congregations that are within the United States to be able to offer effective ministry in our context.
