    Well, someone once told me I conflated two stories, but if so, I will still give him credit for the conflation:

    A man has a demon on his shoulder whispering for him to make tiny little wrong doings. The man listens occasionally, thinking them relatively little infractions, but with each choice, his demon became larger and the man himself small until he was a mere small figure on the shoulder of the large demon.
