Seven years ago I speculate on Christian Jewelry — with a few illustration. See my post.
I like this one — never thought of the LARGE version!

I think you had another cartoon addressing this issue, no?

  3. probably this same one. it’s an older one from 2013.

There’s a comment to be made about not grasping the weight that comes with the symbol sometimes, but I’d actually go in the direction of Christians (and other religious) having a problem with appropriating from others in that regards. Unfortunately, to echo in advance another regular of this forum, there’s a real gravity in taking on some beliefs like, say, viewing Jesus as the Messiah. Beliefs that hinge on a guess can’t be taken lightly, but we have a lot of people making their own bad decisions that are based on their treating their religious path as fashion or a trend rather than something to be lived. I’m not going to be able to follow all the mitzvot (laws) in Judaism and there are many that I don’t want to follow for reasons of their being misogynist or based heavily on temple sacrifices, but that doesn’t mean I’m not taking my own commitment seriously.

Yet we have many religious, no matter what the religion, only wearing the item and making it look like a heavy burden when the “weight” is hollow.

It would be fun for you to link to that posting so we could read comments at that time.

BTW, David, as with all my posts, when I link to them (here or at other sites), I always go back, read them, re-edit them and try to improve them. So the one you saw today is the “new and improved version”. In that way, my blog is less of a diary as a work-in-progress.

I wonder if you ever use old cartoons, and re draw them with improvements from what you learned in comments when you last posted them, or with updates in your thinking.

  6. I do re-use older cartoons… sometimes just as they are, sometimes with edits. Then there are some that I would never use again.

I’d be curious what those are.
I too read some of my stuff and don’t like it and change it significantly.
It is fun to change — ah, you know that ! 😉

  8. too many to list lol.
