    Sadly, that is one of the key phrases of enablers of abuse (and over-lookers of abuse). This is one way how the cycle of abuse continues.

    By itself, there really is not too much wrong with the statement. After all, at least my grandson did not break his leg at the same time he broke his arm. (A true event that happened this last summer.)

    But within the cycle of abuse, the phrase takes on special meaning – it re-empowers the abuser to press forward and repeat his/her abuse.

    It is a green light to an abuser.
