Here we see some people singing a hymn of deliverance, “Oh come, oh come, Emmanuel, and ransom captive Israel!”

I’ve sung thousands of songs about freedom, begging for it, and never realizing that freedom was something I already possessed! My eyes just needed opening to it. This present reality. Free indeed!

To be honest, I think a lot of religion and its words are created and constructed to keep us in bondage and to keep us enslaved to its systems. Religion needs subjects in order to survive.

  1. Caryn LeMur says:

In my mind, religion (a philosophy that has a set of spiritual practices) is simply a collection of tools.

I do not carry my chain saw with me at all times… nor do I use my car for sleeping quarters… tools are temporary, by their nature… and most often, a tool is designed for a few purposes.

In the Bible story of the Garden of Eden, in the beginning, a person named Adam simply talked with God in the evening, walking with him at the end of the day.

    The minimal system.

    May often be.

    All that is needed.

Yup. Powerful words, and a powerful truth.

  3. Yes, religion is a helpful tool. I found it helpful and appreciate it. Still helpful in fact.

Like presidents can be helpful. Until they overreach their powers.
