I'm passionate about advocacy for the LGBTQ community. Over the years I have created over 100 cartoons dealing with this very issue. Many of them have gone viral, being shared all over the world. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So, rather than write 100,000 words, I drew over 100 cartoons to illustrate the struggle and have been sharing them on my blog and all over social media. But they're scattered. So I created a book! I call it The Art of Coming Out: Cartoons for the LGBTQ Community. I broke it down into three chapters: 1. The Conflict: These cartoons express the conflict LGBTQ people face in their endeavor to be themselves in the world. 2. The Struggle: This collection of cartoons illustrates the opposition LGBTQ people face as they attempt to be authentic and to experience equality in their lives. 3. The Acceptance: The cartoons for this chapter describe the joy LGBTQ people experience when they are accepted, included, and treated as equals. Some people get the book for themselves. Others get it for their family or friends who have come out or are thinking about it or are in the process of doing so. Plus, it's a visual and tactile tool for self work and discussion.
