I'm saddened by
the news of the death of
Andraé Crouch, who died yesterday.
You may not know about Andraé Crouch, but in the late 70's and 80's, he was a huge hit among Pentecostals. I was Pentecostal.
He had a huge influence on my spiritual life. He inspired me to learn how to play the piano... by ear and just chording... so I could play "Soon and Very Soon", "Jesus is the Answer", "It Won't Be Long", "My Tribute", and more.
I read his autobiography, "Through It All", and it really freaked me out. With his talk about experiencing demons and the like, it fanned my deep spiritual fears into flame, making me even more zealous than I was before. If that was possible!
I'd seen Andraé Crouch many times in concert. Always amazing. I had all his records.
He has always been considered by me one of my spiritual mentors in the earliest days of my Christian walk as a teenager and young adult.
R.I.P. Andraé Crouch!
By the way, a lot of the members of
The Lasting Supper share similar Christian experiences as I do. We are a very diverse group. But we are not afraid to share our stories.
Come and join us!
