At Some Point You Must Defy

AT SOME POINT YOU MUST DEFY

I speak with people every day terrified of making a decision, standing up for themselves, disagreeing, assuming agency for their own lives, walking their own path.

Why?

Because it means defying authority.

And they've been warned their whole lives that that's the worse thing they can do.

They've been taught to never trust themselves.
Never to trust their own minds.
Never to trust their own feelings.

They've been obedient to the church and fulfilled all its expectations and doing what it wills.

Just saying, "I'm going to live my life the way I want to!" sounds so rebellious, defiant, rude, and even dangerous. I bet some of you are afraid right now of saying something like this because it sounds like something a sinner would say... someone who's going to Hell. Right?

But I assure you: this is something you're going to have to do if you want to be spiritually independent, self-determining, autonomous, mature, happy.

You will have to defy external authority in order to establish your own.

I can understand a vague point in this but the authority that we all should be under is God’s, wouldn’t you agree? With this in mind, how do we know God’s will for us and all mankind? this is where I will start to question my thoughts and I know feelings are deceiving.
