churches use facial recognition software to see if you're skipping church
"Facial Recognition" cartoon by nakedpastor David Hayward
True story! You can read about it here.
I remember my first Sunday after leaving the ministry and the church. I took a walk along our road that follows the river. Of course, being Sunday morning, lots of people were driving by, many probably on their way to church.
At once I felt this amazing sense of freedom and relief. But I'll have to admit I also felt a tinge of guilt. Angelic and demonic at the same time. A deliciously complex blend of good and evil. I had now become what I thought was a part of the problem with church... fluctuating church attendance and spotty commitment from our members.
I finally really understood them. They were no longer "them" but "me".
