COVID Communion

A man and woman are in bed streaming a church service on their laptop. It says, "For communion today just grab whatever food and beverage you can because God doesn't care." He eats pizza and she drinks whiskey.

Many years ago I listened to a cassette tape of Henri Nouwen speaking at Boston College.

I think I still have it. 

He shared a story about his recent trip to Guatemala, I believe, and how he wanted to serve mass, but there was only coke and chips handy. So that's what he used.

I remember the impact that had on me at the time. 

Henri Nouwen went on to have even greater impact in my life. I'm thankful for him.

And he's right: there are more important things to be concerned about than propriety.
