"Do Theologians Need to Grow Up?" by nakedpastor David Hayward)
I find it sad that there is such bickering among theologians. I mean, I totally agree that theology is a serious matter and shouldn't be taken lightly. On the other hand, I totally believe that theology is a joyful endeavor that should be approached with happiness and that should invoke happiness among us all.
Theologians used to kill each other with blades, stones, ropes and fire. Now we use words.
There are theologians that approach theology as a way to clearly define their own school which they believe is correct and separate themselves from the heretics. They build walls. It's a divisive project. And a grim one!
Then there are other theologians who approach theology as a way to understand and articulate our essential unity and bring a great diversity of people together. They take down walls. It's a unifying project. And a happy one!
I know which approach I want to take. In fact, I hope I already do!
