I believed what I was told for quite a while. That's fine. Even necessary. Until I became an adult and had to knowfor myself.
You know, in the churches I grew up in I was told about the Bereans in Acts 17:11 who checked the scriptures for themselves to see whether Paul was telling the truth or not. That verse was used to encourage us to read the scriptures diligently. But this was all under the assumption that wewould indeed come to the same conclusion as our teacher.
But what if we didn't? What if we decided to knowfor ourselves?
That decision in my life took some courage.
It meant, like this cartoon depicts, distinguishingmyself from others;findingtools to help me discover; making myself vulnerable, visible, and obvious; seeing for myself; eventually making a declaration for the sake of others; and exposing myself to criticism but sometimes applause.
There is beauty beyond the walls of our perception!
