Finally I'm Free!

Description: A baby is born and thinks, "Finally I'm free!" The happy and proud parents look on and the father says, "He's adorable! We'll raise him as a straight evangelical male!"

Yes, the child is free from the safe confines of the womb, but is about to enter into a new kind of limitation.

To be fair, this can't be helped. We have traditionally raised our children to follow in our footsteps and fulfill generations of expectations for them.

This has been only natural and expected.

However, if we can humbly acknowledge this and raise our kids with openness and allow them to become their own true selves beyond our expectations and even hopes, then I think we create space for healthier and more authentic human beings.
