Love Who You Love

“F*** what people say love is!”

I’ve been thinking about Valentine's Day which is coming up.

It’s not a holiday we particularly celebrate as a community or do much on.

Traditionally, Valentine's Day has been about a very stereotypical, heteronormative kind of love that society deems acceptable.

Well F*** that!

The NakedPastor community is different in so many ways and I love us. This year, I'm committed to creating a space for us to celebrate love in every shape, size, expression and sexuality.

My wife Lisa is a nurse. In her education and workplace, the patient gets to choose who their family is. Even if it's non-traditional or breaks stereotypes.

This is a philosophy we can also adopt with the concept of love. No matter what it looks like, the choice is valid, and always ours to make.

This includes celebrating self love, LGBTQ love, familial love, and the love between friends. I want this to be a day that everyone can own and celebrate.

Celebrate because you love yourself, or your friends, or because you’re gay and in an amazing relationship with the partner that was made for you.

Whatever love looks like to you, that’s what love is!

So, over the next 2 weeks I’ll be addressing all kinds of love and calling out all that I see.
