Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
I drew this Black Lives Matter cartoon when we had a march here where I live.
We marched AND we wore masks.
Because we care about people.
Yes, I drew Jesus as a person of color.
Yes, I drew Jesus wearing a mask.
Yes, I drew Jesus marching with a Black Lives Matter sign.
Because it’s in the spirit of Jesus to care about justice.
It’s in the spirit of Jesus to imagine, struggle for, and create something new.
I think it’s in the spirit of Jesus to want and work for a healthy society.
A Martin Luther King Jr. quote I’ve appreciated lately:
“The soft-minded man always fears change. He feels security in the status quo, and he has an almost morbid fear of the new. For him, the greatest pain is the pain of a new idea.”
Perfect love casts out fear.
Let’s love fearlessly and welcome the new.
(Just last night someone asked if this was on a t-shirt. Yes. I even still own the original drawing... which I can hardly believe. Plus there are prints and mugs in my nakedpastorstore. I appreciate your support... not only personally, but because when you support my work I can support others. Generosity spreads!)
