Pastor Terry Jones' Failed Attempt to Barbecue Qurans

I drew this cartoon back in 2010 when Pastor Terry Jones planned to burn a Quran. He called that off. But his congregation did burn one in March of 2011. Jones was arrested yesterday while on his way to burn 2,998 Qurans in memory of the victims of the 9/11 attacks. He's been charged with the felony of the unlawful conveyance of fuel. He's also being charged with the unlawful open-carry of a firearm. He will also face charges of having no valid registration for the trailer he was towing. The real crime though is his religious intolerance. But, rightly, you can't be charged for that. Imagine how full our jails would be then! But here's what I'm interested in: Is the lunatic fringe sometimes the unbridled manifestation of the status quo?
