The Church Gives Up Her Own Head

The bible story that inspires this cartoon is the one where John the Baptist's head is served on a platter to the king. The prophet John the Baptist was a threat to Herod's unbridled power. I know... not all churches! BUT... can we agree... that the church is in a serious place right now? The great theologian Karl Barth drafted the Barmen Declaration in 1934, a fierce critique of Christians and Churches that supported the Nazis. We are living in similar times.
