I drew this over 4 years ago. I drew it specifically for a friend who had escaped from the Quiverfull movement.
The reactions I got from this cartoon were interesting to me.
Some thought it was good because they should sacrifice themselves for the housework.
Some thought it was unfair to women who enjoy being housewives.
Some thought it was fair to women who enjoy being housewives but still find it to be hard work.
Some thought it was a cruel joke on women who feel trapped in their homes.
Some thought it was an accurate depiction of women who are expected to keep house.
Some thought it wasn't complete because there are no children represented there.
And on and on and on.
So I'll tell you why I drew it:
I know many women who feel they sacrificed so much of their lives to perpetuate the patriarchal idea that women should stay at home doing the housework. That's their role and that's their job!
This is for them.
