The Parable: “Revival is just upon us. It's not here yet, but it certainly is just upon us!” I bought it. Then sold it. Always just around the corner, we would bait ourselves with hope deferred day upon day, month upon month, year upon year. We'd try the same machine for decades. With poor memories of the terrain, we'd circle around the block again and again and again. You can live on bait for a long long time. Eventually it tastes like real food and becomes our meal of choice. Spiritual gambling. That's what it is. Pulling the one arm every time... just one more time... we believed the next one would sound the trumpet and we'd finally cash in. We left with empty pockets. Every. Single. Time. They mocked us because they don't understand the delicious seduction of addiction. So we'd go out and earn just enough desperation to return to the machine. Today's the day!
