The Rich Compost of Your Life

Two circles overlap. One side says, “The good earth of your life.” The other, “The bad shit of your life.” The overlap says, “The rich compost soil of your life from which your amazing self grows.”

THE COMPOST OF YOUR LIFE

Soil alone is good. But add sh*t to it and it’s better. 

I live near farms. In the spring we smell the strong odor of manure as farmers spread it to enrich their fields. It’s nicknamed “farmer’s gold” because it’s such a rich resource for fertile soil.

It’s the same with our lives. We think that we are better people when we eliminate the bad from our lives.

This is not only impossible, but unhealthy.

I repeatedly claim that you wouldn’t be who you are now unless you were who you were then.

The chapter of your story that you’re living right now would make no sense unless it was an organic unfolding of the previous chapters. If you ripped out the smelly chapters of your life, you wouldn’t be who you are now.

You might say, “But I don’t WANT to be who I am now!”

The fact is, you are!

And another fact is that you are likely far more amazing than you realize. 

Growth begins with self-awareness. Accepting and embracing and loving the you that you are now, with all the good and bad, is where it all begins.

I meet and hang out with so many of you here every day. Many of you struggle and are down on yourselves. But I see the absolutely astoundingly amazing people that you are. 

I love helping people feel validated for who they are as they are.

That is the most perfect soil for growth.
