Over the past couple of years it has become wildly obvious to me that if you are really rich, common laws don't apply to you.
Much lesser things poorer and marginalized people do wind them up in jail.
Not so if you're rich. Or in America: white, rich, and connected.
Earlier this week, I was reading Slavoj ≈Ωi≈æek's new book, "Like a Thief in Broad Daylight", and he says:
"... is the basic lesson of the recent public exposure of the so-called Paradise Papers not the simple fact that the ultra-rich live in their own special zones where they are not bound by common laws?"
Yes. Money is power. Power is money. Connections is currency too.
