I thought I was free yesterday.
Today I know I wasn't.
Tomorrow I'll realize I'm not.
I now know I'm freer than I was,
but not as free as I shall be.
Yesterday freedom was in my sights.
Today it is in my hands.
Tomorrow I will be in it.
Perhaps soon my mind will open
to what true freedom is,
and I will find the courage
to soften my heart
and live in what is completely.
Then I will realize that
freedom was forever mine,
and that it has always been
a matter of my own perception.
And I will look to see from whence I came
upon all the residue of laid traps
set by my fearful hands
lying open and empty behind me.
