"Take That Off or Put This On," is a comment on the profound lack of the unconditional acceptance of people in many churches or religious communities.
My work often comments on this theme, because it is, as I see it, a root cause of many issues in religion. It makes us question a few key ideas (and remember that questions are the answer). If you are loved and accepted only for being who others want you to be, are you truly loved? Does a philosophy of conditional acceptance foster authentic spiritual growth, or rather cultivate a sense of fakeness? Last question, is this type of hoop-jumping healthy? Of course it’s not!
Hang this on your wall as a reminder that you should leave the masks and suits of acceptance that others want you to wear where they belong – on the hanger. Rather be your colorful self.
