Even though this is a cartoon, and it is a little bit funny, it isn’t a joke.

This is really how it’s done.

I honestly sometimes feel there must be a school to learn how to do this stuff.

  1. All too true.

    And adding in….

Group think = Right heart towards God

Controlling your external behavior = Sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

  2. In a way, I am not sure all of this is bad. Your post is about the real meaning of nice sounding words.

And I agree that such ‘hidden meanings’ is deceptive.

Adding on: I think that Inward facing communities often develop coded language that no longer can be understood by outsiders.

“You are confused, Caryn, so confused!”

I replied with something like this, “Oh yes, I hear you. My past is confusing even to me at times… lol. But what a fun crazy ride to have with Jesus.”

Clearly, the poster was operating with a new definition to the word ‘confused’ that protected her from thinking or doubting or considering another viewpoint.

That was fine to me. She faded away, because we do not even speak the same coded language.

I am glad that the cult-groups of Christianity have developed their own coded language – because the non-believers (and a number of believers) cannot follow their new coded language, and thus, have nothing to do with them.

They have become irrelevant because they cannot communicate in plain terms understood by both parties.

    I like that.

  3. My Dear Wormwood,

I refer you to my previous epistle on Semantics, specifically the redefinition of words into their “diabolical meanings”.

    Your Ravenously Affectionate Uncle,

P.S. Nowhere do we corrupt so effectively as at the very foot of the altar!
