Understanding Narcissistic Pastors

As if narcissists can be understood! But we must try in order to protect ourselves from them. Because narcissistic pastors are experts in spiritual abuse. So let's explore this a bit and why the ministry is a huge magnet for narcissists.

First of all, let's take care of some preliminaries.

What is Narcissism? 

Narcissism is extreme self-involvement to the degree that it makes a person ignore the needs of those around them. 

The Existence Of Narcissistic Pastors

No, not all pastors are narcissists. But, I've served under several narcissistic pastors for sure!

Why are Narcissists Drawn to the Ministry?

Narcissists crave attention and therefore crave to be the centre of it. The ministry is the perfect culture for this to occur. And it often takes place without anyone questioning it. 

In my experience, narcissistic pastors behave as though the possess the divine right of kings, and all the members of their church are their subjects.

I kid you not!
