CARTOON DESCRIPTION: In a bookstore, there’s a shelf of “Books for Husbands” and there are 3 books there. In another shelf, “Books for Wives”, there are many books.
I drew this cartoon years ago because I actually saw this in a Christian book store.
I remember years ago when I realized that in a relationship the one who loves the least has the most power.
Which I immediately understood also means the one who has the least power works the most to make a relationship function.
More power, less work.
Less power, more work.
This is why there are so many books for those with less power on how to stay in line.
This is why there are so many books for wives on how to behave.
This is why there are so many books for believers on how to submit and survive and succeed in a church and in the faith.
In other words, this is the power structure and here’s how you survive in it.

Respectfully, I disagree.
Love is powerful and stronger than pride. What you are talking about with “the one who loves the least has the most power” is not love. It’s enabling oppression and a form of self hatred. Anyone who loves themselves won’t allow themselves to be under the oppression of someone else. And someone who loves themselves is free to love others.
This is independent of gender.
