Members of churches aren't the only ones who experience abuse. So may clergy!
It's about the abuse of power. Sometimes the clergy abuse their power against their people. I've addressed that many times. But it can work the other way too. Sometimes the members abuse their power against their clergy.
With the clergy, the power resides in their position." With the members, the power resides in their numbers.
I know many people who've experienced and are experiencing abuse in their churches. I also know many pastors who have and are.
The system not only allows for it, but fosters it. The gravitational pull seems to be towards the control of others, and frequently" people and systems cooperate to see that this occurs.
