I Love When You Visit

There's a myth that when a redbird visits you, it's a lost relative coming to tell you they're okay. I don't know if I believe it, but whenever I am visited by a redbird, I do think of my mom, my dad, and my brother who have gone before me, and I like to think of them as assuring me that they're okay.

This is a Sumi ink and watercolour paint on heavy, high quality Arches watercolour cotton rag paper.

It measures approximately 8"x10" with a white border for matting and framing.

I'm fascinated by the complex but minimal simplicity of the geography that surrounds me. I endeavour to capture its essence in my work. There is something mystical, contemplative, and spiritual in my art... because there is in the place where I live.
