I WILL WAIT

This is a watercolor and ink painting on heavy, high quality Arches watercolor paper.

It measures approximately 8"x8" with a white border for matting and framing.

This tree reminds me of myself. As so many trees do.

I will wait is about freeze of winter and the expectation of spring. At least where I am in the north. We must wait. And waiting isn't a passive thing, but an activity full of intention and courage. It's not weak to wait. It takes strength!

I live in the Canadian north. I'm not in the city, so my skies don't suffer from light pollution as much. Sometimes I go out at night and just look up. Often, I inhale and exhale a huge sigh, astounded by the beauty. If I'm really lucky, I might catch some Northern Lights. 

This experience always makes me feel more grounded, and, strangely, seen and loved.

And I can carry that feeling for a long time. Sometimes until the next night.

All I have to do is look up.

I live in eastern Canada. I'm fascinated by the complex but minimal simplicity of the geography that surrounds me. I endeavor to capture its essence in my work. There is something mystical, contemplative, and spiritual in my art... because there is in the place where I live.
