I've heard that some pastors in the USA are expressing concern that their congregations are sick and tired of a weak, liberal, woke version of Jesus.
They want a tougher Christ.
One who wreaks wrath upon anyone who isn't white, straight, cis-gendered, and male.
At least this is what I think they want.
This comes as no surprise to me.
Everyone has their own version of Christ.
It's my theory that we all choose a theology, and therefore a Jesus, who suits our biases best and serves our prejudices precisely.
The fact that people want a more hateful and violent version of Jesus betrays the fact that they are already hateful and violent themselves.
They just need a heavenly rubber stamp of approval.
So they create one.
