SAY SOMETHING

This is a watercolor and ink painting on heavy, high quality Arches watercolor paper.

It measures approximately 6"x6" with a white border for matting and framing.

"Say Something" is a cry that sometimes may arise from our hearts as we endeavour to connect with that which is beyond ourselves, or more than ourselves, or that All that includes ourselves. Sometimes we just need a still, small voice to assure us. I hope this painting captures that sense of spiritual desperation you might feel right now.

I live in the Canadian north. I'm not in the city, so my skies don't suffer from light pollution as much. Sometimes I go out at night and just look up. Often, I inhale and exhale a huge sigh, astounded by the beauty. If I'm really lucky, I might catch some Northern Lights. 

This experience always makes me feel more grounded, and, strangely, seen and loved.

And I can carry that feeling for a long time. Sometimes until the next night.

All I have to do is look up.

I live in eastern Canada. I'm fascinated by the complex but minimal simplicity of the geography that surrounds me. I endeavor to capture its essence in my work. There is something mystical, contemplative, and spiritual in my art... because there is in the place where I live.
