The world is craving the real Jesus, Jesus flipping tables, standing up for the marginalized, and teaching us to do the same. As the master table flipper, he was flipping awesome at taking action when everyone just stood by.
This fun cartoon is a favorite because it depicts what many of us often feel like doing (losing it and acting out our true feelings). It shows Jesus teaching a woman how to flip tables. It is based on the gospel story where Jesus overturns the tables of the temple money-changers because they extorted the poor who couldn't afford sacrifices. Taking action is a common theme in my work. My hope is that we learn how to challenge abuse, corruption, exploitation, and injustice of all kinds, wherever and whenever we can.
