I Want To Go Home But I Can't

Notice the person is walking past the home but not toward it. Perhaps looking on longingly or maybe cautiously or even fearfully.

It's very strange that I used to be able to go home to visit my family. But as I began to change in a direction unfamiliar to them, I felt less comfortable.

Then, dad was put into a long-term care facility with dementia and Parkinson's.

Then mom died.

Then our family broke apart.

Now, the discomfort is greater than ever for me to go there.

I would love to go home... that mythical land of make-believe warmth and welcome. 

But it isn't really there anymore.

So I can't.

Can you relate?
