When redbirds show up, I am told, they are a lost loved one visiting you to assure you that they're okay. 

I don't believe it, but every time one shows up, I do think of my brother, my mom, and my dad. 

And I appreciate that.

There's also anticipatory grief I experienced when mom and dad were dying. Please don't leave tries to convey that.

Even though I convey a lot of space in my paintings, I also like to convey a kind of love that thrives in serenity.

This is a Sumi ink on heavy, high quality Arches watercolour cotton rag paper.

It measures approximately 8"x10" with a white border for matting and framing.

I'm fascinated by the complex but minimal simplicity of the geography that surrounds me. I endeavour to capture its essence in my work. There is something mystical, contemplative, and spiritual in my art... because there is in the place where I live.
