3 Wholesome and Affirming Trans Cartoons
Happy International Day of Transgender Visibility. I see you today and every day! 💙💓🤍💓💙 Trans lives matter, and for that reason, I am committed to making art that celebrates and uplifts trans people. Art that speaks up against the culture that fosters fear, hate, violence, and cruelty against the trans community. There are so many reasons why I support trans people and why you should too! Did you know that in 2022, there are 7 states in the USA that have proposed bills that would limit the rights of trans and non-binary youth? The rights of trans people are under attack; we can’t sit around and watch any longer. In honor of International Day of Transgender Visibility, here are 3 of my favorite Transgender Cartoons. I hope they make you feel seen and loved. Trans Mosh Cartoon Happy Trans Mosh Pit is available for digital download. I drew this transgender celebration cartoon especially for today. If we could all be together, this is what it would look like: a big trans party with all of us supporting and cheering on our trans friends, exactly as they deserve. I love this and hope you do too! Trans Rights are Human Rights This trans right is a simple cartoon. It's a reminder that trans rights are human rights. This isn’t up for debate. This trans rights cartoon shows this. Transgender and Friendship I say no to backlash, bullying, and exclusion! This cartoon is how it should be. Today is the day to celebrate, love, and be grateful for the transgender people in your lives, so we can start making the world a safer and more inclusive place for them every day.

Is the Church the Broker of Love?
Description: Jesus throws tons of hearts. The Church receives it all with open arms. However, some escape over and behind the Church where a tiny LGBTQIA sheep finds a few. Is the Church the Broker of Love? Imagine the arrogance it takes to say that they know who is loveable and who is not. Imagine the arrogance it takes to say that only the Bible tells you how to love properly. Imagine the arrogance it takes to say that only Christianity understands love. Imagine the arrogance it takes to say that only the Church can explain it. Imagine the arrogance it takes to withhold love from someone because of their gender, sexuality, race, color, geography, beliefs, etcetera. The Church doesn’t have the right to claim to be the arbiter, the mediator, the broker, of love. Shouldn’t we all imagine, including believers, that we are all swimming in the ocean of love… Rather than imagining that everyone else should swim in our little pool where we charge entry fees, require the meeting of certain conditions, and kick them out or drown them if they don’t comply?

To Abuse the Body of Christ is to Abuse Christ
Here we continue our meditations on spiritual abuse. When I first posted this older cartoon it caused outrage against non-affirming believers and churches. Like many of my cartoons. Why? Description: A very beat up and wounded Jesus is supported by an LGBTQIA+ rainbow sheep. Another sheep asks, "What happened to him?" The rainbow sheep says, "He stood between me and the Church!" Simply, they do not appreciate it when their own theology is turned on them to prove that they don't live up to it themselves. According to what I think is good Christian theology, the body of Christ IS Christ. We are the embodiment of Christ. So that when we are abused, Christ himself is abused. But when people other than themselves are included in the body of Christ, they resist, rebel, and reject. This cartoon would only further communicate this good Christian theology that Jesus was protecting not only himself but all of us... all those he loves... without exception. This cartoon is called "He Stood Between Me and the Church".

The Power Is In Our Hands To Build a Church Where Everyone Belongs
There is a fascinating verse in Matthew's gospel where Jesus says, "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." I think this means that if we choose to refuse people, reject people, not welcome them, not affirm them, discriminate against them, then that's the way it's going to be. On the other hand, if we welcome people, affirm them, and give them total access with the same rights and privileges as everyone else, then that's the way it's going to be. Cartoon description: A man on his knees prays before a lit candle and crucifix, "Please, Lord, bring more people into your church!" Meanwhile, Jesus stands behind him with a large and diverse group of people, including LGBTQIA people, looking at his watch, waiting for him to finally realize it's totally up to us. We can no longer blame it on a cruel and discriminatory god... a god that we have constructed out of our own opinions, biases, and prejudices. Neither can we wait for this god to change his mind, because apparently he won't until we will. It literally is up to us. We have the authority to make this happen. The power is in our hands. We are responsible. No more delay!

World Vision, Gays, and Hypocrisy
Many children have lost support due to the fact that World Vision will employ Christians in same-sex marriages. (Download this cartoon by clicking on image or HERE.) I'm aware of the issue some have with such organizations. I'm also aware that World Vision does more than feed people. I'm also aware that this cartoon only addresses a part of the issue. I'm also aware of the fact that people have a right to their own consciences. I'm also aware that support for World Vision might increase because they've opened their hiring policy. What I'm addressing is our hypocrisy. My hope is that this cartoon would expose a bit of that.
