When I finished painting this one, it reminded me of Lisa and I when we've made a decision to leave and never go back.

Notice she is leading. I'm always amazed by Lisa's courage during these distressing but liberating times.

And notice they've pushed the canoe off shore... like burning a bridge. They will not go back because they cannot. That's their decision.

A Place of Honour

We bought the piece "We will not go back" because it spoke so profoundly to how we felt after leaving the church, and it is waiting for its frame so we can hang it in the hallway by our front door. Why the front door? Because it's the place where we said hello and goodbye to the many and varied church folk over the years. We will "never go back," and they will never come or leave through our door again.
We love David's artwork, not only for its beauty, but for how it represents profound things.
