Being LGBTQ+ is More than Skin Deep
Being LGBTQ+ is not skin deep.It’s an identity and I hope this image conveys that. Cartoon description: A white sheep shaves an LGBTQ+ rainbow sheep to get rid of the rainbow colors only to discover that the sheep’s skin is rainbow colors as well. This is why conversion therapy is becoming more illegal in Canada (where i live) and many other countries around the world. And this is also why the Church should consider it illegal, immoral, and harmful as well. People are literally suffering and dying because of the stupid idea that being LGBTQ+ is about perversion and lust rather than identity. Whenever I try to explain to people who believe this I realize it's a losing game. They refuse to understand that being LGBTQ+ is about identity and that we have the right to choose and decide. So they’ll keep fighting for conversion therapy because they really do believe it's all in your head, you want to be perverted, and you want to lust without judgement. It’s not just infuriating. It’s harmful. We can love the bigot, hate the bigotry.I've seen people convert from hate to love. Now THAT'S a conversion therapy I support!

Honoring LGBTQIA+ Stories in Art
Sexy Sunday and Pride Month combine to bring you this cartoon. Many LGBTQIA friends and followers requested representation in my Sexy Sunday cartoons But I was reluctant because I feel their intimate sexual lives is NOT my lane. I see so many people, businesses, and institutions take advantage of the LGBTQIA+ community, and I will not participate in that. Exploiting, for example, gay- or trans- or bi- or whatever- sex for profit or popularity is vulgar and cruel, and I refuse to play that game. The fetishization of the private sex lives of my LGBTQIA+ friends is not cool. Also... and I will be vulnerable here... I was sexually assaulted by an older teenager when I was a kid, and also by an older man when I was a teenager. So imagery of men enjoying sex together is something I don't want to imagine or draw. I wish it wasn't so, because it is a perfectly valid expression of genuine love. But there it is. For me. For now. I'm working on it. All that being said, my friends persuaded me that they trusted me and urged me to draw some for them. Here it is, with two women. I personally know many people who have experienced this. You? Is the Church the Broker of Love?
Description: Jesus throws tons of hearts. The Church receives it all with open arms. However, some escape over and behind the Church where a tiny LGBTQIA sheep finds a few. Is the Church the Broker of Love? Imagine the arrogance it takes to say that they know who is loveable and who is not. Imagine the arrogance it takes to say that only the Bible tells you how to love properly. Imagine the arrogance it takes to say that only Christianity understands love. Imagine the arrogance it takes to say that only the Church can explain it. Imagine the arrogance it takes to withhold love from someone because of their gender, sexuality, race, color, geography, beliefs, etcetera. The Church doesn’t have the right to claim to be the arbiter, the mediator, the broker, of love. Shouldn’t we all imagine, including believers, that we are all swimming in the ocean of love… Rather than imagining that everyone else should swim in our little pool where we charge entry fees, require the meeting of certain conditions, and kick them out or drown them if they don’t comply?

To Abuse the Body of Christ is to Abuse Christ
Here we continue our meditations on spiritual abuse. When I first posted this older cartoon it caused outrage against non-affirming believers and churches. Like many of my cartoons. Why? Description: A very beat up and wounded Jesus is supported by an LGBTQIA+ rainbow sheep. Another sheep asks, "What happened to him?" The rainbow sheep says, "He stood between me and the Church!" Simply, they do not appreciate it when their own theology is turned on them to prove that they don't live up to it themselves. According to what I think is good Christian theology, the body of Christ IS Christ. We are the embodiment of Christ. So that when we are abused, Christ himself is abused. But when people other than themselves are included in the body of Christ, they resist, rebel, and reject. This cartoon would only further communicate this good Christian theology that Jesus was protecting not only himself but all of us... all those he loves... without exception. This cartoon is called "He Stood Between Me and the Church".
